Layer 4 - Isolation Mitigation: Identify and Address the Team Members at Highest Risk
What this layer does: Identifies which team members are at isolation risk - specifically, those whose self-sufficient working style makes their disconnection invisible until they resign - and installs specific intervention options before departure risk activates.
The counterintuitive pattern: The team members most likely to experience damaging isolation are often the ones who never surface problems.
High performers who are self-sufficient, reliable, and low-drama can become isolated silently. Because they rarely need help, routine team touchpoints may never create the depth of connection their engagement requires.
Isolation risk indicators - three signals:
Signal 1: Participation rate in connection rituals is above threshold (they show up) but contribution is minimal (they don’t engage beyond the required input). Shows up as one-word responses in async threads, camera-off in video rituals, written contributions that are technically complete but functionally absent.
Signal 2: Communication volume decreases over a 4-week period without a corresponding decrease in deliverable output. They’re still producing. They’ve stopped connecting. The work is the only thread left.
Signal 3: They stop referencing other team members’ work in their own context.
